There are places in the Rockies that stop you in your tracks, and Peyto Lake is one of them.
From above, the lake is said to resemble a sleeping fox, often called “The Fox of the Rockies.” I’ve always loved that idea… this quiet turquoise guardian tucked into the mountains of Banff National Park.
In this painting I wanted to capture not just the view, but the energy of the landscape, the movement in the mountains, the glowing valley light and that unmistakable glacier-fed water.
